Reportedly, United Company RUSAL (UC RUSAL), the world's largest aluminum producer posted on Thursday that its net profit last year increased by 2.5 times to reach US$2.867 billion, much better than the forecast of US$1.96 billion, driven by the rise of production capacity and aluminum prices.
In addition, the company predicted that the aluminum prices would average at US$2,500~US$2,600/ton in 2010; also, it has planned to increase the production of aluminum and alumina by 2% and 8% respectively.
At the same time, US RUSAL estimated that the global demand for aluminum would rise by 8% to hit 43.80 million tons this year. Among them, China’s demand for aluminum is expected to soar by 12% to hit 18.50 million tons.
