After more than 30 years of development of silicon steel, Wuhan Iron and Steel Corp. (Wisco) becomes the top producer and exporter for silicon steel in global market.
Silicon steel is one of the most important soft magnetic material today to be applied to small relays or pulse transformers in very small quantities to generators, motors, and transformers which could be consumed tons of silicon steel.
In 1974, Wisco introduced 1,700mm rolling mill for hot rolled sheet and silicon sheet from Nippon Steel as well as continuous casting and cold rolled steel mill from Federal Germany.
Today, the company could produce 70 thousand tons of silicon steel annually, including 42 thousand tons of non-oriented silicon steel (CRNGO) and 28 thousand tons of oriented silicon steel (CRGO). Also, its silicon steel categories are up to 36 varieties with 150 standards.
