Posco plans to commission CGL in China in 2012

Reportedly, South Korea’s Posco planned to commission a continuous galvanizing line (CGL) at its Guangdong work.

It’s known that Posco held a foundation ceremony on March 21st in Guangdong Sunde city. Also, this is the first automobile steel sheet plant that the company builds in China, which owns 450 thousand tons of annual production.

In fact, the new plant is a joint venture company. Posco owns 94.4% share and Guangdong government takes 5.6%. In addition, its raw materials will be imported from the company’s plants in South Korea’s Kwangyang and Vietnam.

Posco has aimed to expand the production capacity at oversea, especially that of the automobile sheet. The company indicated that the automobile output in South China’s region takes 25% of the country’s whole production; the major automobile industries such General Motor, Toyota Motor have set up manufacturing plant in that area.
